Prepare for a
Successful Surgery

Simple steps before your procedure can make a big difference in your recovery. Follow these preparation guidelines to help ensure a smooth surgery day and faster healing.

  • Stop smoking as early as possible before your procedure
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior
  • Stop NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, aspirin, Mobic, etc.) unless instructed otherwise
  • Discontinue herbal supplements, fish oil, turmeric, and vitamin E
  • Continue prescription medications unless directed differently
  • Notify our team if you take blood thinners, diabetes medications, or injectable therapies
  • No food or drink after midnight
  • Small sips of water for essential medications only
  • Plain water or black coffee may be permitted up to 6 hours prior, if approved
  • Not following fasting instructions may require rescheduling.

What to Expect on Procedure Day

The Nervexa™ procedure is minimally invasive and typically takes about 45 minutes, allowing for a quick recovery and faster return to daily activities. Here’s what to expect and how to get ready.

  • Do not wear makeup, lotion, or nail polish
  • Remove valuables (jewelry, piercings)
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing
  • Shower or bathe the night before or morning of surgery
  • All current medications and supplements
  • Any prescribed items for your procedure (braces, ice machines, crutches)
  • Medical devices (CPAP, inhalers, pacemaker info)
  • Legal documents if applicable (Advance Directive, Healthcare Power of Attorney)
  • You’ll be greeted by our clinical staff and guided to the pre-operative area.
  • A nurse will review your medical history and medications.
  • Your surgeon will discuss the procedure and answer any last-minute questions.
  • After the 45-minute procedure, you’ll rest in our recovery area until you’re ready to go home.

Additional Pre-Surgery Considerations

Plan for a responsible adult to accompany you during your visit and drive you home afterward.

Arrive at the Surgery Center early to allow for check-in and pre-operative preparation.
